What kind of thoughts are you wanting to change? If you mean pessimistic thoughts, try Authentic Happiness by Martin E. P. Seligman.
I think it means making something of yourself and improving yourself is above/bigger then sacrificing yourself. Like, maybe she’s saying that working to make yourself a better person or get yourself to a better place for a certain cause is more difficult/worthy then sacrificing yourself for that same cause.
I would like to become a personal development coach. I have the gift and strong desire to help people examine their lives to enhance overall happiness. I think this informal approach to counseling with a "regular" person would save people both time and money. Even just talking to an impartial party who won’t "label" them would help people relax and open up. What do you think?
The field is saturated with "life coaches" and similar.
It is extraordinarily competitive.
In addition, some "coaches" have found themselves in legal hot water in terms of their services bleeding over into the fields of counseling and psychotherapy (which require a license to practice – not unlike medicine).
My advice to you is to carefully consider your options before you give a single dollar to ANY organization claiming to "train" or "accredit" coaches. The profession at the moment is NOT regulated. Therefore, any "training" or "accreditation" you purchase will likely be invalid if the profession ever does become regulated by the state.
With Obama’s promise to socialize medicine in this country, you can be virtually assured that lawsuits against "coaches" who are actually conducting psychotherapy or counseling will soon follow.
Best of luck to you in your decision-making process,
~Dr. B.~
The law of attraction has become one of the most popular topics today in the world of personal development. Many people have experienced massive changes in their life since they have watched the life-changing movie entitled “The Secret”. This movie focused on what is believed to be the most powerful law in the universe – the law of attraction.
People everywhere are interested to know how to use the power of this universal law to attract their desires and achieve their ambitions in life.
For those who are not familiar, you might be asking, “What is the law of attraction?”
It is a universal entity that attracts to you whatever you focus your attention on majority of the time. This magnetic power allows you to manifest your thoughts and emotions into reality.
You may have not been aware, but it has been existent since the beginning of creation. The greatest people who have ever lived practiced the law of attraction. The most successful people in the world today are practicing it, including Oprah Winfrey.
It is vital for anyone who is applying this universal law to know how to use it to its full advantage. The law of attraction does not merely rely on the “ask, believe, and receive” formula. Nope, sorry to say but it’s not that simple. To unleash its full magnetic power, you have to observe the following:
1. Visualize in your mind the very thing you desire to be, do, or have. Believe without a doubt that it is already happening in your life. Feel the happiness or satisfaction of having achieved your dream in your whole body, mind, heart, and soul. It is highly recommended that you create a vision board (a cardboard will do, with pictures of things that delight your heart). This will greatly boost your visual faculty.
2. Declare your intentions, believe that you are already receiving what you are asking for, and state your affirmations whenever you can. If you want to be a best-selling author, say, “I am a best-selling author!” many times throughout the day with belief, conviction, and emotion. It is highly recommended to go to a room alone to focus on your self-talk.
At any time of the day when you are about to say something negative like “I can never do this!” or “I’m so dumb!” hold your tongue and say “Cancel! Cancel!” or “Delete! Delete!” It is vital to keep your inner dialogue purely positive and free from pessimistic toxins.
3. Take inspired action! The universe helps those who help themselves. If you’ve been watching “My Name is Earl,” you’ll probably be familiar with karma. It states that if you do something good, an equally good thing will come back to you. And if you do something bad, an equally bad thing will come back to you. You reap what you sow. Therefore, if you just keep daydreaming and don’t do anything, the universe won’t do anything to help you either.
4. Receive openly. the law of attraction is more powerful if you open up and allow yourself to receive the abundance that the universe supplies to you. If you reject your blessings, you are stopping the flow of prosperity and decreasing your attracting force. Acknowledge even the smallest things in life. Remember to always say “Thank you.” Let the universe know how much you appreciate all the abundant gifts you are receiving. Show sincere gratitude, and the universe will respond appropriately by giving you more.
The law of attraction is so precise; it never fails. Understand it, know exactly how to unleash its full potential, and start applying its principles to manifest everything you’ve always dreamed of. You can do it! May the attraction power be with you.

If you’re a self publisher and don’t have a big budget you can market and promote your book on a shoestring, thousands have done it. Be careful about your promotion and marketing dollars and don’t plunge into unknown waters — test, test, and test some more. It’s one thing to write a book, but an entirely different thing to write one that’s saleable, viable, and marketable. This article will provide you with some easy, free, and cheap book marketing, promotion and publicity tips to get you headed in the right direction fast.
Learning to write and use powerful search engine optimized press releases can often drive tons of traffic to your website while providing multiple back links that can lead to increased page rank and numerous top ten search engine rankings for your targeted keywords. Using press releases for marketing or promoting your book or book’s website has become increasingly popular as publishers discover the powerful benefits of using press releases. Mail a press release to all the trade journals in your field over and over again; you can use the same release.
Don’t underestimate the value of a good press release for making book sales. When picked up by wire services, a press release can easily end up generating hundreds of mentions for your book. Send out at least 10 press releases to the print and broadcast media in your area every month.
Make sure you have at least one good press release, written in AP style that you can send out for the lifetime of your book. Press releases can generate thousands of dollars in sales when picked up by national trade or print media.
When you get a nice write up or feature about you and/or your book, have it laminated and set it up on an easel at trade shows. Offer to trade writing a monthly column in a trade publication in your books’ genre, in trade for display ads on the same page. Every day it’s important to focus on a variety of marketing approaches.
Be your own publicist and send a press release along with a review copy of your book to publications in your book’s genre and to book review magazines. I’ve seen publishers lose a lot of money paying for expensive display ads, so beware if you do this; I don’t advise it in the beginning — get your feet wet first so you know what you’re doing. Find a non-exclusive distributor with a good reputation to carry your book for the book store trade, as well as for other retailers.
Create an online contest and list it in online contest directories to drive traffic to your website. Place free ads periodically for your book’s website on Craigs List in different categories to drive even more traffic to your website. Make sure not to overlook the Internet; get yourself interviewed or profiled for sites both about writing, publishing and about the topics covered in your book.
It’s been my experience that book signings don’t sell many books for most self publishers and is often a waste of time; better to spend it elsewhere. You might give away your book in a raffle at a local function to get more recognition for your book. Submit articles to online article directories that focus on your book’s topic to drive customers to your website.
Build a web site that provides another avenue for ordering, a virtual online press kit and link exchanges with sites that relate to your topic. Print and online publications provide longevity to your marketing campaign in terms of having something tangible for people to reference ongoing.
If your book fits a specialty market, find a store that fits the genre and offer to leave books on consignment; many publishers have sold thousands of books this way. Remember to make sure your book is listed in Books-in-Print; don’t assume it’s already listed.
The success of any book marketing effort depends on having a good book and just plain hard work; its been done many times before and you can do it too. I hope this article has provided you with a few helpful tips to accelerate your book marketing and book promotion efforts. Don’t delay another day if you’ve fallen by the wayside; make sure to focus on promoting, selling and marketing your book each and every day.
